Ffestiniog serves the town of Llan Ffestiniog and was initially the terminus for the Bala & Ffestiniog Railway as well as the Festiniog and Blaenau Railway. There was transhipment facilities to transfer goods from the narrow gauge line to the standard gauge line. This did not last long and the Bala & Ffestiniog railway took over the narrow gauge line and extended to Blaenau Ffestiniog central station allowing through access to Bala and Bala Junction. | Things to See List of local attractions and things to see appear here
Proposal | ||
It is proposed by the trust that Ffestiniog be the first operational base for its efforts to restore and reopen the line. Initially this will see the station land cleared to ground level and tidied up to enable it to be returned to the state it was in before the line was mothballed. This will facilitate the full assessment of the land to enable the Trust to maintain the site long term in a good condition. Once ownership of the site rests with the Trust in the future, the Trust will then concentrate efforts on rebuilding the old station building once any legal requirements are met with to enable it to do so. Further details of the works being planned for the site can be found in the Trusts Long Term plan under Phase 14
